Missing Parent Layer Tab

I can FTP into my PRoCon Server and I can move plugins from my local machine where I've been testing them to make sure everything works before copying them to the PRoCon Server.

My problem is that I can't see how I can be remotely connected to the server and not have the Parent Layer Tab visible.

A couple days ago I had the Parent Layer Tab and I could access the plugins that where on the PRoCon Server. Now I can't.

Is there a specific procedure to getting the connection back so I can have the plugins on my PRoCon Server accesable in order to change the settings of the plugins?

I first lost the ability to see the tab on my laptop while I was changing Spam Bot messages. When I got back to my main desktop PC it also had lost the tab.

Is it likely that anything I could have done may have deleted the tabs on both computers even though I had only changed the settings of the Spam Bot plugin while logged in with the laptop?

Or is it more likely that the Game Server that Hosts the PRoCon Server has something to do with my tab being gone. I am suspicious that something out of my control changed and the provider has no clue.

BTW - The OS in both cases is WIN7, the laptop is the standard flavor and the desktop is the Professional version.

If i understand this correctly you do not see the Parent Layer Tab when running the procon off your computer or a layer server?

Again, thanks much. I was getting very frustrated with the whole process. Hopefully whatever the real issue is I'll get it resolved with the e-mail that's going to their owner and director of operations. I'm not about to trash their name without giving them every opportunity to resolve it if it's on their end. If it's on mine, it's on me. One more opportunity to learn something new.

The odd thing about all this is that I had a very brief window of opportunity during which I actualy had a Parent Layers Tab. I even found out that I needed to turn off the local plugins and only enable the ones under the Parent Layer tab in order for the spam bot message on the layer server to run smoothly. Then, poof - vapor, no more tab. any either of 2 PC's.

Even though the layer server appears to be running, I still have no Parent Layer tab and I occassionaly get a connection refused error in dark maroon. I'll need to save the screenshots of the message next time it occurs.

My guess is you're not connecting to a layer at all.. You're direct connecting and thinking you're connecting to a layer.

If you don't see the parent layer tab, then chances are you're not connecting to a layer.

Contact your host and discuss with them. There isn't really anything we can do sorry.

That could explain why I could see and had access to the tab briefly out of the blue a couple days ago. Then it disappeared again.

Here's one part that is confusing me. If I'm understanding the following line of the manual:

"To have a procon layer server running, you need to turn it on in procon, setup your internet connection to allow

people from the internet to connect to that service."

Internet

My impression is that the "you" really means the admin of GPS that's providing me with a Layer Server. If it meant me, as in "Thunk" it would stop running if my local machine was logged off.

Can you confirm if I'm right in this assumption?

Have you read the manual?

My gut instinct tells me that there is no connection to the hosted layer. My lack of experience frustrates me but if I at least knew that everything on my end was correct, I'd do battle with the GSP to have them activate the layer since I feel it's not working on their end.

BTW - my copy of the manual isn't on the pc I'm using right now. I can't seem to locate it. I know that originaly I found it in a post somewhere. When I click on the "Please read the Procon manual

The GSP/PRoCon Layer server host provided an address and port for each. I initialy created a connection using the game server address and port. I then created a seperate connection using the PRoCon Layer address and port.

I will need to have more admins eventualy, that's why my research led me to purchase that hosted layer server.

At first I was assuming that I was connected to the layer but I didn't have the Parent Layer tab and when I logged out of my local PRoCon the ingame spam bot message would stop until I logged back into my local PRoCon. That told me there was nothing running on the hosted PRoCon server. After a few days of getting aquainted with the GSP provided control panel I discovered that their filemanger wasn't going to cut it so I started using FTP. I managed to upload a localy edited Spam Bot c.s and then the ingame messages kept running after logging out of the local ProCon.

Here's where I'm not sure what happened but I got the Parent Layer tab! I was then, for a short while, able to see and change the message and see a corresponding change in message either logged on to my local PRoCon or with just what I assumed was the server layer on the Hosted PRoCon server.

Now the Parent Layer tab is gone, as is my ability to change the PRoCon plugin settings using the tab.

I'm very new at PRoCon and running a game server. I'm also dissapointed that the GSP can't help with the problem. I've read posts and watched videos and been to multiple GSP sites that had FAQ's. I'm now assuming that I'm not connected to the layer on the hosted PRoCon server I'm paying for. I suspicious that something on the server side is FUBAR but don't have the experience to tell what it is.

Are you sure you're connecting to a layer?

Do you use a username when you log in?

Are you the only admin?

    • Game Server Hosting:

We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

You can see all the available games here. Currently, we have the following games available.

      Valheim (From $1.50 USD)

      Rust (From $3.20 USD)

      Minecraft (Basic) (From $4.00 USD)

Call of Duty 4X (From $7.00 USD)

      OpenTTD (From $4.00 USD)

      Squad (From $9.00 USD)

      Insurgency: Sandstorm (From $6.40 USD)

      Changes to US-East:

Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

    • Hello All,

I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully.

We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

    • Added ability to disable the new API check for player country info

      Updated GeoIP database file

      Removed usage sending stats

      Added EZRCON ad banner

If you are upgrading then you may need to add these two lines to your existing installation in the file procon.cfg. To enable these options just change False to True.

      procon.private.options.UseGeoIpFileOnly False
      procon.private.options.BlockRssFeedNews False

    • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.

If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.

Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.

Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.

Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.

Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.

Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.

Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes.

Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.

Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.

Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month

As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.

All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.

If you would like to see how much it would cost for the services, I made a calculator that you can use. It can be found here https://ezrcon.com/calculator.html

    • I have pushed out a new minor release which updates the geodata pull (flags in the playerlisting). This should be way more accurate now. As always, please let me know if any problems show up.
