I got the kick and ban part of this to work on official. Kill does not work.

Line 1434 which has admin.kick in it needs to be changed to this

Code:

this.ExecuteCommand("procon.protected.tasks.add", "CWatchdogLanguage", this.m_iDelayBetweenMessageAndKick.ToString(), "1", "1", "procon.protected.send", "punkBuster.pb_sv_command", String.Format("pb_sv_kick \"{0}\" {1} \"", strSpeaker, strPrivateMessage));
For ban I just had to set the "Ban by guid" option to yes.

We have this plugin installed and it's generally working as designed on our BF4 server. It's not perfect, but it does kill, kick and ban players for violations. The issues we've discovered are related to the text displayed in the "admin.say" messaging when the plugin takes action.

First off. and very important: EA DOES NOT ALLOW admins to kill, kick or ban on Official Servers. So if you're server is setup and listed as OFFICIAL, you won't be able to use this plugin. Repeat: It will not work if your server is "Official". You will need to setup your server as a RANKED/NORMAL or CUSTOM server.

The plugin Kills, Kicks and Bans as designed, which is really the main function, so we are pleased this function works. The private and public warning system and console messages seem to be where the problems lie.

The issues we've seen are both related to the text displayed when the plugin takes action.

1. The Admin Yell does not work, but I believe EA disabled the Admin Yell in BF4.

In this scenario you have the Yell Message enabled, player is warned, kicked or banned, but nothing appears on screen.

2. The custom settings for chat text Admin Say do not always work as designed. A player is killed, kicked or banned for a violation, however the text displayed is "(player name here) Last warning for Language".

In this scenario the player may have been kicked or banned, yet the chat message indicates they've only been warned. Check your console, and you'll see the player is gone.

Oddly enough, the private or public admin say message is included in the ban reason. By example, when a player is kicked or banned for racially offensive language, the chat shows they've been warned, but in fact they've been kicked, banned and the ban reason is included.

If you simply want to permanently ban without warning, you would put a 1 in the Max Ban UserList 1 field, which would contain all the racially offensive language. Here's basically how you'd set it up to ban a player immediately for any violations of words found in UserList1.

Code:

Max Warn User List 1> 0 (means no, I don't want to Warn the player for a violation)
Max Kill User List 1> 0 (means no, I don't want to Kill the player for a violation)
Max Kick User List 1> 0 (means no, I don't want to kick the player for a violation)
Max TBan User List 1> 0 (means no, I don't want to Temp Ban a player for a violation)
[b]Max Ban User List 1 > 1 (means YES, ban a player the 1st time they use a word in UserList1)[/b]
We have Watchdog Parameter Linear Method set to YES so that the plugin doesn't reset and keeps track of violations. For some language violations, you may want to increase the level of punishment. Example, a players who likes to use inciteful language just to disrupt gameplay and distract players, you can kill, then kick, then ban for each of 3 violations.

Code:

[b]Max Warn User List 1> 1 (means Yes, I want to Warn the player for a violation)[/b]
Max Kill User List 1> 0 (means no, I don't want to Kill the player for a violation)
[b]Max Kick User List 1> 2 (means Yes, I want to kick the player for a 2nd violation (see above, they've been warned already)[/b]
Max TBan User List 1> 0 (means no, I don't want to Temp Ban a player for a violation)
[b]Max Ban User List 1 > 3 (means YES, ban a player the 3rd violation where they use a word in UserList1)[/b]
Hope this helps.

While Watchdog may still work at a very basic or elementary level, the communication piece seems to have broken somewhere along the line. Recently the language filter bans have been logged with the reason "Prior Kick/Ban", which doesn't give the player or the admin team accurate information to determine what rule the player violated. Not sure if anyone else is seeing this behavior in their logs, but I can't seem to find out where this "reason" code is coming from. It's very odd. In addition, the console chat announce/messaging is also absent, not publicly announcing the ban by example. Rather than keep going with the plugin as it is, we're moving on.

If you use ProconRulz, find the thread and "search thread" for language and you'll find examples of how PR can be used to accomplish the same task.

Thing to remember with BF4 is the YELL function is not working yet, so if you want to see messages working you will need to change to Say for all warnings.

EDIT: YELL is now working in BF4.

These are the warnings I see in console. I run a w/w/k/w/w/TBan system with only certain words not in the BF game.

[01:48:43 64] Watchdog: Warning=XXXX for Language, word number: 47 in Userlist: UserList2

[01:57:15 69] Watchdog: Warning=XXXX for Language, word number: 1 in Userlist: UserList1

[02:55:06 45] Watchdog: Warning=OOOOO for Language, word number: 73 in Userlist: UserList2

[03:00:25 84] Watchdog: Warning=OOOOO for Language, word number: 5 in Userlist: UserList1

This you will already know but the CWatchdogLanguage.cs needs to be in the procon/plugins/BF4 folder. I'm assuming your talking about BF4 you didn't say.

This is just an example, there are a few other times people are getting banned because it only takes part of the word and then bans.

Set those words like this:

R/[^a-z]{1}ass[^a-z]{1,}[ .]*

this way it only warn/kick/ban for ass, not for glass or assignment

Since I doubt you will get a response from the watchdog dev (Soarda):

I'm dev for another language plugin but as far as I can see the watchdog has a switch named "Ban by guid" in the section "watchdog param"

Thanks Damit!

If I'm understanding you correctly. (I'm tired)

Under the Communication section when banning a player just add (%Time%) seconds into the line in your reason that is sent to the player, it also shows in the players red disconnect bar at the bottom of battlelog.

Private Tban message

The message to use when privately telling the player they are about to be Tbanned as well as the reason displayed in the Tban message

This is what's in mine.

Code:

Your being temp banned for (%Time%) seconds for Language/Abuse.
Depending on what Time Ban in second> you have set will be the number displayed to the player.

Have a read of the details tab in the plugin it has the settings and explanations in there.

%Time%

Show Time in seconde for TBan methode only
