Hey, for what it's worth... I've just spent the last 30 minutes or so adding the functionality so that the plugin should be able to kick seeders when the server gets populated. I was just trying to test it out on Pharbehind's server (he's given me access). It seems like it should be working but during testing my soldier isn't getting kicked. I'm not absolutely certain, but I think it's probably because he only setup my account with enough privileges to move players (which is what the plugin mainly does) and I don't have access to kick players. And because I am running the plugin remotely (not parent layer) for testing I think it is limited to my account privileges.

Anyway...I'm kinda rambling here, but .... it needs a bit of testing (I need a bit more access for that).... but I think maybe I have the option to kick seeders when server gets full added. Was pretty easy addition that didn't affect the rest of the plugin much at all.

For now, I've left the 2.0.3.1 version up there also....just in case I introduced a new bug that didn't show up in my quick testing. I don't think I have but.... I'll delete/remove 2.0.3.1 after a few days with no reports of trouble from any of you guys (assuming at least a couple bother to load 3.0 and run it).

He he .... ya.... I can see why. I just threw that in there without a lot of forethought. I'll poke around some tonight (or this weekend for sure) and fix that. I see another typo or two in the help screen that needs fixing as well.

Let me know if ya got any other ideas that might be useful. I'm in a bit of a mood to tinker with this so I'd love to hear about ideas. Of course, I probably would only do stuff that was relatively easy and safe to implement though....

True that. I already did that for myself. But i thought the less experienced people here could use this.

And I wanted to change the text because all kicks are shown in the game chat. Wanted a funnier message

So... *MAKE SURE* you have the seeders in the whitelist and any/all other plugins that attempt to manage whether players are on team 1 or team 2.

Is it possible to put seeders in squad "none" when the "last activity" timer kicks in?

I notice many players join the squads where the seeders are in and start complaining to them.

So this option makes automatically room for other players in the squad. This might result in better teamplay / squadplay on a starting server.

EDIT: Just to add, on roundchange I noticed the seeders are put in a squad again.

I have probably 6 basketball games to attend (my kids are in tournaments) this weekend as well as celebrating my b-day with the wife having quite a few activities. Also, the oldest offspring has finished his last exam at university and will be flying home this weekend. So..... it might be next weekend before I get to it. But I do think it's a great idea and I'll give it a shot.

I think I saw a thread where Ike and company have a server I might be able to do my testing on. Depending on that situation, it might also be helpful to once again get access to someone else's server temporarily for testing purposes. (I'm more of a trial-n-error kinda of programmer/debugger it would seem).

Hey Flyswamper,

Not in a rush for this feature, so take your time. Even if it's not a real conquest. (pun intended)

As always I'm willing to test.

So easy that I've gotten over-confident and haven't even tried/tested it (tempting fate I know).

Anyway..... I just added a little check so that whenever my code was already determining that a seeder was idle that it now will send them to squad 0 if they aren't already there. This *should* keep the seeders out of squads.

Pharbehind, if you'll set me up as before I'll try to pop in and check that it's working ok.

Oh.... and just me being silly, but this code was written about 100meters up-slope from where this webcam is..

Essentially I'm pretty much always seeding on my server and even when the server is full I want to stay logged on in case the server starts to empty - which it does. So I leave idle kick to 'off' so I don't get booted, unfortunately what I notice is that when the server is full I often get a number of 'random' players (not any of the admins/reserved players either) sitting idle in the server ...

Sooooo, is there any possibility of having an option that whitelists my reserved/VIP players/admins from idle kick but ensures 'randoms' get booted. Hopefully this is where somebody helpful points out something really obvious that I've missed, or Flyswamper thinks this is a good option and includes it in the future!

Cheers

Phil

That is certainly something that I have thought about in the past. As it is now, the plugin has the option to kick the seeders (your account) once the server gets full, but this plugin doesn't currently do anything to other (random) players that have been idle.

In the near/short term, a workable solution would be to get/find some other plugin that will serve as an idle kicker and work the way you want it, except that you would want to make sure your designated server-seeders were whitelisted in that other idle-kicking plugin. Assuming you can get another plugin that does the idle-kicking work, the combination of mine and that one *should* accomplish what you are seeking.

With that said, whenever I next am feeling a spurt of coding-energy it does seem like a reasonable addition that I could make so that I could have something that would watch all players in the server for idle-times and have a threshold to kick them. The thing is that my adding this really wouldn't add any functionality that couldn't be accomplished with the 2-plugin setup I mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the response. Yeah this looks workable, but I suppose the thing is are there any plugins that operate as an idle kicker when that functionality is in-built, I'll take a look it could be the easy solution!

Thanks again.

It was moving idle seeders out of squads as it should. And I didn't see any other apparent trouble cropping up as a result of the change. So thats a good thing. Hopefully version 3.2.0.0 is ready to go for you guys. I'll leave the prior version available for download for a little while longer just in case, but I think if you upgrade to 3.2.0.0 it should work fine.

The caveat is that I was apparently still having connection problems and couldn't keep my own soldier account connected to his server. Was getting packet-flow errors and such. Seems like the resort/hotel internet where I'm at is likely the problem. Once I get home tomorrow I'll probably do a bit more checking/testing of the plugin. I'll also do some testing on a new plugin mentioned below...

pulpbiggles:

Myriades was the guy that wrote an idle kicker that I used for a while. If you search his profile and posts he made in the plugins section you should find it. I think it was called CIdleKicker or something very close. I found it yesterday and read through the forum posts on it. The good news is that the plugin exists. The bad news is that it looks like some bugs were reported that might have never been addressed and Myriades hasn't been online for a year or more here.

So.... I was feeling industrious last night and started writing my own somewhat simple idle-kicker utiltity. I can re-use much of the code in my current plugin and adapt it I think. With any luck I'll get something out in the next few days. My intent is to publish it as a separate idle-kicker and NOT integrate it into the BalanceServerSeeders plugin.

  • Our picks

    • Game Server Hosting:

We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

You can see all the available games here. Currently, we have the following games available.

      Valheim (From $1.50 USD)

      Rust (From $3.20 USD)

      Minecraft (Basic) (From $4.00 USD)

Call of Duty 4X (From $7.00 USD)

      OpenTTD (From $4.00 USD)

      Squad (From $9.00 USD)

      Insurgency: Sandstorm (From $6.40 USD)

      Changes to US-East:

Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

    • Hello All,

I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully.

We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

    • Added ability to disable the new API check for player country info

      Updated GeoIP database file

      Removed usage sending stats

      Added EZRCON ad banner

If you are upgrading then you may need to add these two lines to your existing installation in the file procon.cfg. To enable these options just change False to True.

      procon.private.options.UseGeoIpFileOnly False
      procon.private.options.BlockRssFeedNews False

    • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.

If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.

Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.

Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.

Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.

Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.

Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.

Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes.

Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.

Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.

Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month

As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.

All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.

If you would like to see how much it would cost for the services, I made a calculator that you can use. It can be found here https://ezrcon.com/calculator.html

    • I have pushed out a new minor release which updates the geodata pull (flags in the playerlisting). This should be way more accurate now. As always, please let me know if any problems show up.
