Hi All,

So I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while but I always talked myself out of it. I want to get some feedback on this idea and how many would think about using it if it was offered.

In the past I know how hard it was for some users to get a MySQL database going and running the BFACP (since it's a bit requirement heavy in some cases). What I would be doing is offering to manage both of these for you.

If enough interest was shown in something like this I would definitely think about doing it. Of course, I also know the risks I would be taking in something like this, but to list what I would be offering I guess is this.

  • MySQL Hosting
    • Daily backups of the database to a remote site & option to download it yourself.
    • No limit on how big your database can be (within reason).
    • Able to bring over your current database
  • BFACP Hosting (If running AdKats on your layers)
    • This would run the newest version (v3.0)
    • Will still be available to run on your own hardware
    • Will have extra features that are not available for an open source setup (still need to think of good things ;))
    • Able to use your own domain name with the proper DNS setup.
    • Free SSL Certificate
  • Both Above
  • Premium Feature Ideas (01/23/2020)
    • Machine Learning of your data to help predict certain events or trends. (Think best time to populate a server based on past data.)
    • TBD...

Please let me know what you think of this idea and vote in the poll. Again not confirming anything like this will happen but if I get enough interest from the community for something like this then please let me know.

I've added a poll question for how much this service would be priced in. This would help me gauge what would be an appropriate range for this service. I've also added something that could be a premium feature.

i would 100% use it and ditch my provider since you guys would be focused in hosting services for THE GAME and not general hosting + you know all what we need and we won't be needing to write tickets to open ports... change php versions etc...

@wizz3 use your own webserver and then you would not have those problems... Decent web space providers like contabo or 1&1 allow you to change all those settings without any problems in their web interface?

 

Just my view: I would not use 3rd party hosting, because GDPR disallows it for me. At least the part with the IP addresses would be a problem for me... (At least for me as an EU citizen)

Need new plugin features? I can change: Adkats, AdKatsLRT, LanguageEnforcer, InsaneLimits, xVotemap for you. Also working on new plugins. Have an idea? Share it and I might include it in my repos. Github.com/hedius

It wouldn't prevent you, as long as the service is GDPR compliment you should be fine. Which it would have to be, especially since I live in California so I have to also be compliment with the newly passed bill (CC0A). Which is far more stricter. That's as far as the service goes.

For your side you would also need to be compliment, since you would deal with ip addresses.

I would use depending on the cost.

I am running adkats and the web page (http://tyger07.github.io/BF4-Server-Stats/_ for killer stats plug in.

The database and web page is currently running on my NAS.

I also looked at installing BFACP but no luck on my NAS.

Have tried to also get in running on google cloud services, but out of depth.  

 

Hence would love you to host and keep updated.

I would still need to figure out the cost factor and what's fair. Considering it would be a managed service and would technically offer a bit more than a standard web hosting service would for cheap. Things that would need your own VPS for and sometimes from a very specific provider. I can tell you a price range though I am thinking about. Somewhere between $5 - $30 USD, depending on what you would need of course.

So far, 14 people have voted. Mostly positive on building a service. I still would like more input as this would be a big undertaking to build properly.

So, although I haven't had any new feedback, I'm going to pursue on getting this up and running. I hope interest isn't lost in such a service.

I would definitely use this if anything to have a host for ProCon. Sometimes my network times out for 5 seconds and I need to log back in, sometimes if I leave my computer on all night ProCon closes by itself leaving no plugins, and the fact I do have to leave my personal comp on 24/7 so yes please! I don't have the $ for an NAS/cheapo laptop atm so I gotta do what I gotta do, don't want to invest in a VPS just yet.

 

Since VPS is pretty cheap the fact that you'll be providing yours specifically for us server owners I'd pay around $10 to start, probably even more to be honest. Don't really need it for MYSQL since my server host gives that to me, BFACP is a maybe from me, so maybe different prices for different packages?

There will probably be different packages. Still need to decide how I would want to do it.

Simple subscription, link server, done.

Its separate by design as some people only want a particular service. Almost everything is prorated to be billed on the 1st of every month, so you get one big bill on the 1st of each month.

      We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

      You can see all the available games here. Currently, we have the following games available.

      Valheim (From $1.50 USD)


      Rust (From $3.20 USD)


      Minecraft (Basic) (From $4.00 USD)


      Call of Duty 4X (From $7.00 USD)


      OpenTTD (From $4.00 USD)

      Changes to US-East:

      Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

      Hello All,

      I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully. 

      We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

      We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

      I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

      Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

      Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.



      If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.


      Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.


      Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.




      Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.


      Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.


      Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.


      Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes. 


      Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.


      Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.




      Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month


      As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.





      All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.
