Here's an example of how this can be problematic. Our server is a Rush/CQ server, so for us, I think the best strategy is:

1. When gaining players on Rush, keep max server size at 40 until the last possible second -- i.e. don't raise it any higher (to 44 or 48 or whatever) until you are actually at 40 players

2. When losing players on Conquest, don't drop the max server size below 48

 

Currently, the plugin doesn't provide this sort of flexibility, and the effects are quite detrimental. For example, if I optimize for the Rush case, then when my Conquest headcount is dwindling in the evening, as soon as I hit 40 players my max server size drops to 40, and suddenly I lose Conquest quickjoiners. On the other hand, if I optimize for Conquest, then my max server size while I'm in the 30-40 range will be set to 48, and I have trouble getting Rush quickjoiners to push me up into Conquest territory. Does that make sense?

 

I am wondering if you are aware of this issue, and have any plans to implement additional functionality to help compensate for it.

 

You already have config settings for "max server size" per gametype. I think a couple of extra config settings would do the trick:

 

1) "max server size UNLESS server is full" per gametype. Works just as the existing "max server size per gametype" settings, except the cap would be lifted if the server is at capacity.

 

2) "Lowest allowed max server size per gametype" setting. I'd like to set this to 48 for Conquest Large.

 

An alternate, and more general strategy, would be to include an entire mapping of "current population -> max server size" settings per gametype, as you do w/Adaptive Ticket Count.

Only difference with R33: the server shows it's Quick Match status now.

 

Also, the official documentation is showing the wrong "intended player counts" for some gamemodes.

TDM is not intended for 24 players, but 32. Tank Superiority is intended for 24, not 64.

When / if new server docs are released, this should be fixed.

No need to confirm. I received this info straight from a DICE Dev last month. See that Multiplay forums link.

After you upload the proper BF3.def file, you must restart the layer server first, then close and reopen your local PRoCon.

i did that i restarted my layer and i have replaced and restarted the layer 2 times nothing

Then it's not up-to-date, like I originally stated. A new copy of PRoCon does not come with the latest version of BF3.def. It's updated when you choose "Check for Updates" from the tools menu.

Ty i have done that in my normal procon but nothing like that has been downloaded i ran a new version of procon and it updated thanks have a good night. :smile: :smile:

I can't find any logs for this plugin, where should I be looking into?

 

Also, I think it may have happened during Scavenger, can't remember.

this happens to me whenever a bunch of people try to connect at the same time. usually only when i first restart a server. this only happens on rare occasions.

On the ProCon server, the BF3.def is from Dec 6th 2012, including DLC-4 weapons and mode.

It's the same as all of the others. I don't know what's wrong. When you start PRoCon, check the plugin console for error messages to see what's wrong.

This has nothing at all to do with this plugin. You should have started a separate thread, or better yet, searched. But, the answer is: you can't. The server requires 4 people to start.

      Changes to US-East:

If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

      I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully. 

      We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

      We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

    • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

      Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

      Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.



      If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.


      Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.


      Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.




      Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.


      Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.


      Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.


      Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes. 


      Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.


      Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.




      Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month


      As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.





      All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.
