I get confused by that also. Possibly one of the dumbest decisions I made with respect to logging.

 

The player in question is REMOVED from the counts for comparison. So, in all cases, there are in fact 3 dispersal players on team 1 and 2 dispersal players on team 2. In the case of Jalegar and aedificat, they were removed from the group of 3. In the case of MAAESTROO and kyokusin20, they were removed from the group of 2.

If it were easy, I would have fixed it myself long ago. Several lines of code have to be adjusted per dispersal type, and there are three of those types.

 

I'll file a bug against it. The whole function needs refactoring anyway.

There were two people on the winning team with scores very close to each other, around 10,500, but the one who was moved, when I looked at the scoreboard, was a couple hundred points higher. It's possible his score was slightly lower than the top score just before he was moved, but at any rate I thought all of the top 1, 2, and 3 spots would be protected.

Unstacking is not recommended for new users, since it often causes misunderstandings like this, not to mention undesirable moves.

 

The cutoff for top 3 scorers is 42 players or more. Between 23 and 41 players inclusive uses only top 2 scorers. Perhaps that is what you are seeing?

 

Exclusions can be overridden by a few other settings.

 

1) If your balance speed is Fast, most exclusions are ignored (that's why it balances faster). If your speed is Adaptive, it automatically changes to Fast after the period of time you specified in the other settings.

 

2) Dispersal moves, such as Rank Dispersal, ignore exclusions such as top scorers.

 

Unstacking happens after decisions have been made for exclusions. That is, if a player is excluded as a top scorer for balance, they are also excluded for unstacking.

 

If you want to insure that your top scorers are never moved, you need to use Slow balance speed and disable all Dispersal moves that might affect them, such as Disperse Evenly By Rank.

 

Use Debug Level of 5 to see every decision that the balancer makes. If after setting the speed to Slow and disabling all Dispersals you still see top scorers get moved with Debug Level set to 5, post the relevant portion of the log.

The documentation doesn't say that this function only really fully applies when you're running a 42+ player server, and it doesn't say that it turns off entirely when the script goes into Fast mode. And anyway something that is named "exclude top scorers" should do just that; exclude them.

 

The nicest possible feature would be if the balancer just had a simple N value we could put in that would mean what it says: Never move anyone in the top N spots from either team, no matter what.

 

After looking at the code, I've decided to just use something else instead. I could mess around with the top scorers exclusion and mutate the code into something like that, but then I would have to do that again with every update. I decided to just use TrueBalancer instead.

 

I really like the unstacking feature and the fact that MB operates on current, in-round stats. It's a neat concept. But without a switch to stop it absolutely from moving the top scorers around, it's just asking for too much ragequit.

Look in post #2 of this thread and press the Show button next to "older_versions". Then scroll all the way down to the version where @mb commands were introduced. You should see this:

 

Access: admins only, must have a Procon account that has Allowed to move players between teams and squads checked.

Check your account permissions in Procon and make sure you have that option checked.

You have Enable Logging Only Mode set to False, correct? If it were set to True, that would disable @mb commands.

Just so you know, MB registers OnResponseError and looks for any errors that contain "admin.movePlayer". If found, it writes those debugging log entries.

 

So when you see those messages, it doesn't necessarily mean MB itself issued the player moves. You'd have to do more digging to figure out which plugin issued the commands.

 

Now, that said, there is a known issue with scrambler. Did those errors happen between rounds, when MB was scrambling? The scrambler needs to move all players to squad 0 before scrambling. That code isn't checking player role, which is just a bug. The code that does the actual scrambling move does check role, so the squad 0 bug hasn't been worth fixing, since it's harmless.

 

But even if that bug is fixed, the InvalidPlayerName may still happen, when a player leaves the server just before the move is executed.

Are you using BF3 or BF4?

 

The plugin always moves SQDM players to squad 1. I believe that was correct for BF3, but maybe it was changed for BF4?

 

When your server has at least one player in each of the four teams, please go to the Procon Console window, make sure Enable Output is checked and Enable Scrolling is not checked, then type this command:

 

admin.listPlayers all

 

and then copy & paste the output here. I will verify.

Oh, i thought it only posted those errors if MB itself had requested those players be moved, didn't know it did it for all players, my mistake.

 

Considering those 4 errors happened within a second of each other I'd assume it was indeed during scramble.

    Well, hmm. That's rather inconclusive. What I was looking for is that every player was in squad 1, or alternatively, every player has the same squad number as team number. I see BOTH cases mixed together, which is not what I expected.

     

    So I don't know what to tell you. Most of the players are in squad 1, regardless of what team they are on, so what MB is doing isn't wrong. But it does look like there isn't one simple rule that applies. I guess players can join any squad?

     

    Checking: you did this listPlayer on a fresh round with MB disabled, right? I wanted to see what the server does on it's own without MB's interference.

        We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

        Changes to US-East:

        Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

        I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully. 

        We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

        We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

      • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

        Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

        Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.



        If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.


        Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.


        Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.




        Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.


        Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.


        Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.


        Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes. 


        Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.


        Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.




        Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month


        As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.





        All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.
