The fast filling together with the 4 player start may cause this issue .

Let me explain my situation and why it happens.

My server 64 player server has the minimum of 4 player start.

When 0 players in the server -> 64 slots

When 1-7 players in the server -> 64 slots

When 8-21 players in the server -> 24 slots

When 22-29 players in the server -> 32 slots

etc

When 8 players join the empty server almost simultaneously the plugin scales back the slots to 24.

Because the 4 player start threshold has been reached, most of the time the round is restarted with 24 active slots.

Once a round started on that 24 slots, no more than 24 players can join that round.

So it's best to set the maximum slots of the server for a longer population period.

For instance: 1-4 players in the server -> 24 slots is a troublesome setting.

Set that to: 1-10 players in the server -> 64 slots and you hardly ever have issues

Congrats i guess? It's not about needing to use this plugin, this plugin isn't about making population possible. Everyone's top servers fill up and stay full. This plugin causes them to fill faster than they already do if something happens with battlelog or something else unforeseen happens. It's good for rankings.

We generally leave a big enough cap between the actual player count and what the plugin is set to, but even still it just seems to jam up sometimes, I don't think it likes the DDoS attacks we get hit with, which I think is what screws it up, or the blaze disconnects.

It's good for rankings! So some people use it to manipulate their server ranks by adjusting the available slots and hence keeping it full. That's kind of like using that paid fake players service to seed and manipulate ranks. Well I guess I shouldn't be shocked, some people will use anything and everything to get to top. I have a shitload of these people on my metabans list

In my experience, using this plug-in will make your server disappear from server browser and you will actually lose players. Players for the most part know where they want to play i.e. a 32, 48 or 64 player server. Thus they actually make use of the "Game Size" filter. Now if someone is only looking for populated 64 size servers then having this plug-in is detrimental to attracting new players as they will never find it until it switches to 64 size. There's one more downside to this, some people actually may join your server because they don't like 64 size, they might prefer 32 or 48. However, dynamically switching the size to 64 during game will probably cause you to lose those players too and probably forever once they know it's actually 64.

Just my $0.02

I've had the complete opposite experience. Without ASS there is no way in hell I would have made the top 10 rankings and stayed there. I credit this plugin and Insane Limits with that achievement.

We wondered about these points as well, but decided to test it anyway, and the results don't lie. We've tested this for months on end, and the servers fill faster with it on, with the correct settings of course.

However, to your point about using anything and everything, try thinking about it from the other direction. The way we see it, it's like auto-erotic asphyxiation, you are starving yourself of something that could help you because not doing it gets you off in some way. There is no "holier than thou" status here, this is battlefield. Falcon made this plugin to help himself and his fellow clans/admins. If you don't want to use it, that's your choice, but don't deny its usefulness. Servers fill faster.

Anyhow, I wasn't actually putting down the plug-in itself, just the inventive way some might be using it to artificially gain ranks - that's all.

I am curious to know what these "special" settings are, the plugin worked for the best part of a year and a bit before it started to break after an update, the DDoS attacks also cause the server queue to show full and the players drop off to 0 so 0:60[10]

I have had regular members tell me they can't find my servers, not everyone makes them favorites and a lot of people do filter on 64 players, so i do see your point as well

Yeah the plugin started to freeze once they released that patch just before the End Game DLC. We used to use it all the time, now we just use it sparingly and then switch it off once we have around 20-30 players on the servers.

In general, we will need a plugin that can optimize our slot allocation between players, commanders and observers, without causing too much churn on the Battlelog server browser.

I know there is no info available yet, but I think this requirement is a safe bet.

A reliable source suggested that at a minimum there has to be 4x observers and 2x commanders, so if you wanted a 64x slot instance you'd be paying for 70x slots, otherwise they'd eat into your player slots, i.e. on a 64x slot instance only 58x slots would be available for players if you didn't purchase the extra slots.

I have nfi why anyone would want to pay for observers, I know I sure as hell don't, i'd be happy for empty slots to be used as "observer slots" but that's about it, same as the commander slots, I think at first people will use them and then no one will, add up 5-6x instances of "observer slots & commander slots" and it adds up quickly, especially when most of the listed prices now for bf4 are between 140-180AUD per 64x slot instance.

It's not like ALL servers are using this plugin. Plenty of server to choose from. Although 16 slot servers are pretty rare (for a reason, as the majority of players want to play on large servers)

And frankly, I do not like your attitude towards admins who use this plugin to get their expensive servers going day after day.

Just a question, did it take you two years to come up with this comment as your first post?

Though I suspect it's more to do with game server issues than the plugin.

Without all of that info and the proper logs, there's not much I can do to diagnose your problem if I can't replicate it.

I should also take this opportunity to say please DONATE for tools and plugins that you use to operate your server effectively! Developers have put in a lot of effort to create and maintain these tools and plugins. And we're not requiring you to pay $90 a month like your GSP or anything, so please throw us a bone! Thanks!

I'm sure plenty of admins here can offer a few servers for testing and will be willing to give you access to.

I have 2 64man servers that are usually full that I can test it on... is the plugin available for download?

  • Our picks

    • Game Server Hosting:

We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

You can see all the available games here. Currently, we have the following games available.

      Valheim (From $1.50 USD)

      Rust (From $3.20 USD)

      Minecraft (Basic) (From $4.00 USD)

Call of Duty 4X (From $7.00 USD)

      OpenTTD (From $4.00 USD)

      Squad (From $9.00 USD)

      Insurgency: Sandstorm (From $6.40 USD)

      Changes to US-East:

Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

    • Hello All,

I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully.

We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

    • Added ability to disable the new API check for player country info

      Updated GeoIP database file

      Removed usage sending stats

      Added EZRCON ad banner

If you are upgrading then you may need to add these two lines to your existing installation in the file procon.cfg. To enable these options just change False to True.

      procon.private.options.UseGeoIpFileOnly False
      procon.private.options.BlockRssFeedNews False

    • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.

If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.

Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.

Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.

Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.

Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.

Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.

Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes.

Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.

Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.

Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month

As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.

All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.

If you would like to see how much it would cost for the services, I made a calculator that you can use. It can be found here https://ezrcon.com/calculator.html
