Overnight testing on BF3 and BF4 servers looks good.

This beta test version works for both BF3 and BF4. So take that into consideration. If you are controlling both BF3 and BF4 servers from a single Procon instance, you will be exposing your BF3 servers to this beta plugin. That said, relatively few code changes were necessary and I didn't have to disable as much as I thought I'd have to, so I'm changing my mind again and sticking with just one version of the plugin for both BF3 and BF4.

 

CHANGES

  • Added detection code that determines if the plugin is connected to a BF3 or BF4 server
  • Added preliminary per-mode defaults for Section 8 settings
  • Made max squad size depend on BF3 vs BF4
  • Updated clan tag fetching to new Battlelog format
  • Updated Battlelog stats fetching to new Battlelog format
  • Fixed known issues (per-mode validation ERRORs, Rush exception)

FEATURES DISABLED FOR BF4 UNTIL TESTING/FIXING IS COMPLETE

  • Reassignment moves: this could result in your server staying unbalanced for longer than comparable BF3
  • Scrambler
  • Usage of BattlelogCache
  • Yell settings for messages: yell is not currently supported in BF4

Don't even think about enabling balancing for any modes other than BF3 modes -- we have no idea how Defuse or Obliteration are going to work. This is particularly true for unstacking new modes.

 

It's recommended but not required that you use a separate Procon instance to try out this plugin. You should also use Procon RC 1.4.1.1 or later.

64 is the still max players for any mode. You can't set a server to 70 players.

There is a known bug in validation of max players for per-mode settings. Workaround: set the setting back to what you need it to be.

I've re-enabled Battlelog stats fetching. So now both clan tag and stats fetching are working.

To minimize confusion and until this issue is fixed in a game server update, I recommend you set Quiet Mode in section 5 to True. That limits the chat message to only the player being moved. It will still confuse that player, but at least only that player will be confused.

Agreed! At this stage no need, but I imagine as the rush dies down in a month or two, the answer will be yes! :smile:

It's disabled because testing isn't completed on BF4 yet, I'm working on it. Read the BF4 Update linked in post #1. Testing is looking good on Conquest, but I haven't tried the other game modes yet. Your patience will be appreciated.

It's np, being patient :P. Was more curious if it was something that couldn't be done at all with BF4 or something that was being work on as it was just listed as "disabled." Thank you for the response and keep up the good work :biggrin:.

Before my server fills up it does indeed need the balancing. Once it's full, though, not so much.

Agreed, I don't use it for those reasons and on top of it, it's buggy so have disabled it.
