Then all you do is follow the instruction under it:

Click on ZIP. Extract only the MULTIbalancer.cs file and install it in your procon/Plugins/BF3 folder.

Pahkiller you best bet first is to read the Procon manual, as this will help you understand the basic stuff.

In the meantime, a better workaround than changing the Whitelist is to just use the refresh command in Show Command In Log from time to time. That forces the whitelist to get updated. Still a pain, but better than nothing.

So I did many many many manyyyyyyy adjustments and finally got it working to most everyone's enjoyment. Keep in mind I have many other servers and so all servers have to have their own settings.

Now it works so well that I don't even bother with adjusting anything anymore or even updating to the newest patch :P

Right and I as a player appreciate the tweaking, but I don't think a lot of admins bother to sit down and tweak it. Especially on Metro, the whole point of that map is for one side to rape (RU), and one side to be raped (US). Each side takes turn.

Well in the case of Xtra and 11 I'm sure Hexa and EB have deliberately chosen settings to intensify play -- just like C2C. So you are doing what they expected; if you don't like, don't play there.

Well ultimately that's up to them. But it is highly grating, annoying, and frustrating to be on the US side (Metro), work hard to push up and take B then push back RU to their spawn. And then bam, that's when someone leaves and I get moved over. Why do I get punished (and that's what it is) for helping my team push and attack. I have more incentive to sit back and spam nades than I have to be at the front lines leading an attack - this plugin doesn't encourage me to do my best, it encourages me to play worse so I don't get moved.

Speaking of don't like, I refuse to play on any server that moves the last player to join. I don't know how many times I've seen my friends are playing on server X, I get in the wait queue and after an eternity I finally get in the server, then half the time I have to wait several minutes more until there is room on their team to switch to it, then I have to wait several minutes more while yelling at them in VOIP to make room in their squad, then I'm finally in their squad and happy -- and the balancer moves me to the other team, because I was the last to join.

And that's a problem that has existed since we had the ability to play online and it will always exists. Why? Because it's the logic that makes the most emse. Last in, first moved. Yeah, it's annoying when you get moved by that logic, but it doesn't come close to the level annoyance that is caused by MB. Nowhere near.

In a lot of cases, unlike Xtra and 11, I'm sure the MB configuration is not optimal. Unstacking takes time and effort to configure correctly. That said, I have some ideas on how to improve the unstacking configuration. For example, there needs to be a maximum "don't bother" percentage, where unstacking turns off if one team is too far behind. For example, if one team is 300% behind the other team in tickets less than halfway through the round, sending Singh400 over to the losers isn't helping anyone.

Not optimal is putting it lightly, as much as I like playing on Xtra's and 11's I'd prefer to wait in queue for UN's for however long. And yes, there needs to be a "don't bother %". I think the logic behind a strong player needs to be tweaked. Often I've noticed I get moved after a serious backrape (>15 kills), and I back rape alot. I don't agree that a player with a high rank is a strong player because rank != skill. R

@Singh400: after your previous rage... a couple of weeks back I have tuned the balancer a bit

Are you still being swapped every time you play on my server?

90% of the time I'm being switched. I just don't play there anymore, because I'm going into the server hoping/thinking I don't get switched. And it completely ruins my enjoyment of the game.

Last time I noticed you in the Metro server I did not notice you get swapped... so... please try again

Last time I got switched, I clearly protested it by saying "Fuck you admin" in chat, which properly got me kicked (I was going to leave anyway). Which you know isn't aimed at you, but rather at the plugin.

We'll have to agree to disagree about that. And let's not blame MB in general for unstacking in particular. Unstacking isn't for everyone, which is why it is disabled by default.

I changed the text in post #1 to be clearer. I guess the word "install" was confusing people. It now reads:

Click on ZIP. Extract only the MULTIbalancer.cs file and copy it into your procon/Plugins/BF3 folder, then restart Procon (layer).

I'll write to you in the german thread but using settings like "keep all clan mates always together on one side" is always a very bad idea if you want to have a working BALANCer, especially when you've more than four clan mates playing on one side.

I would like to be able to have the disperse evenly list only active at night time. The reason for this is that I do not mind chopper crews during the day as there are lots of other good players for them to fight against. However, at night between 1am-9am there rarely is any competition for these chopper crews and they effectively end up emptying servers at night.

Time or population based activation is a great idea. I'll put it on the list. In the mean time, you could probably hack something up from Insane Limits or ProconRulz for that specific chopper problem.

Referring to day time depending settings it could also be interesting to have "event" depending settings e.g

-Enable/Disable Setting x when no admin is playing on the server.

-Enable/Disable Setting x ( e.g unstacking for clans) if more than x players from one clan are joing the server

-....

What I do at the moment:

As long as I'm playing on the server, I've disabled unstacking, not because I don't like it to get switched (I'm even not on a whitelist) but the detection whether it's necessary to unstack or not is not always perfect (especially on Rush, maybe the upcoming ticket loss ratio check will improve this  ) So, I and also the other admins on my server switch the team ourselves to balance the teams. In this case, unstacking is not necessary but when no admin is playing on the server, I always activate unstacking because nobody would balance the teams.

Some notes concerning my experiences with the round scrambler: At the moment I'm using SPM (not BL SPM) scrambling. This works quite well in most cases but it seems to be a little bit inaccurate when my server is running on mixed mode and switches between infantry maps like bazaar and big maps like death valley. Some players are very strong on inf maps but weak on big maps and vice versa.

Probably map depending scrambling settings would improve the balancing but therefor I think we need something different than SPM. Maybe some calculated values like this Skill scrambling from TrueBalaner (only more intelligent  )

I'm thinking of something like a calculated, player specific INFSkillValue, TANKSkillValue, JETSkillValue and so on. We could use this values to dispense those players on the teams e.g Damavand Peak CQ is a map where most of the time the team with the stronger tank driver(s) win, so we could have a much better balance if one good tank driver is on each side.

Well, the problem with update skipping is that the risk of some surprise happening increases. I always test the "next version" upgrade, but I don't test the "two or more versions" upgrade. Now I'm not saying you are guaranteed to have some kind of problem, I just don't know if there will be any problems or not.

That said, if you use Scrambler, Whitelist or any setting based on clan tags, I'd say updating to 1.0.5.0 is mandatory despite any unknown risk, due to the major bug fixes in those areas. If you don't use any of those things, it's more of a recommendation than a requirement.

You should not have to do anything special about your settings if you upgrade. However, since you've got a top community and active servers, it might be prudent to make a copy of your entire procon folder as a backup, for each server/layer, and if you have a problem, you can rollback simply by doing some folder renaming or copying. Try one server first, and if all goes well, you can migrate the others.

If your procon folder is super big, you can get by with only copying your procon/Configs and procon/Plugins folders, but then you have two backups per layer to manage, a little more error prone.

Yes, but only when someone posts their settings to share. Nobody has been doing that.

I encourage anyone that has spent time getting their settings just right to post them, with an explanation of what you were trying to achieve and what your map/mode rotation is. I'm particularly interested in unstacking settings that you've spent time tuning to perfection.

@pharbehind, the Settings Wizard is a good place to start. Set Enable Settings Wizard to True at the top and fill in the form. Then after you've tuned it up, post your settings with your map/mode rotation and I'll add it to the collected settings thread.

For the admins in/out of game, how about an in-game command that lets admins turn major features on/off? Like one command for each of the following: balancing, unstacking, unswitching, scrambling. That's easier for me to code up.

For auto-dispersal of clans with >= X players, where you don't know the clan ahead of time to put them in the Dispersal List, good idea, I'll add that to the list.

It's true that Scrambler uses strong/weak calculations from the previous round, which might not apply in the next round. I suppose what I could do is instead of keeping a single set of round-stats, I can have a per-map/mode lookup table, so that the scrambler can look ahead to what the next map/mode will be and then look up stats based on that map/mode combo, if any exist -- otherwise will fall back on the previous rounds stats. That would be a lot of work and would probably break stuff that is working now, but I'll put it on the list anyway.

Right hand side, click "Download ZIP", extract the MULTIbalancer.cs file out of the ZIP and place it in the appropriate directory/location.

First, my bad, I accidentally deleted the link info from post #1. I'll fix it.

Second, that's not the best location for the download. The best one is:

It's a nice idea but for me, I don't really need this, especially if it's more than a few minutes coding for you. It's a nice to have feature but not really necessary in my case. Changing these settings don't happen very often, so it doesn't matter whether I change these settings with procon or ingame ( and other admins even don't have the knowledge what I'm exactly doing with all the balancer settings all the time, so they wouldn't use these commands). I was thinking about this "admin is playing"-depending setting only because sometimes I forget to change these unstacking settings when I leave the server but overall that's not a big problem and I don't think it's worth to spend more than 5 minutes coding.

Okay, I understand, the problem. Breaking stuff that is working now is probably a strong argument against such new scramble methods but I can remember that you've added some new "scramble by" settings like "scramble by KPM" with an update. Is it always necessary to implement new "scramble by" settings on different places in the code or is it possible for you to add, just with a few lines of code a new "scramble by" setting?

At the moment I've no idea what could be better than SPM scrambling but I'm quite sure there are some useful, merged stats which can help us with scrambling more than just SPM or KPM.

Something like: "TDM-Skill", "Rush-Skill", "CQ-INF-Skill", "CQ-LargeMap-Skill"

(If this would break the whole balancer, you should better forgot what I've said.)

But if this is relatively easy to do, the next step could be to find a way to automatically use these "scramble by settings" depending on which next map and/or game mode is coming.

  • Our picks

    • Game Server Hosting:

We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

You can see all the available games here. Currently, we have the following games available.

      Valheim (From $1.50 USD)

      Rust (From $3.20 USD)

      Minecraft (Basic) (From $4.00 USD)

Call of Duty 4X (From $7.00 USD)

      OpenTTD (From $4.00 USD)

      Squad (From $9.00 USD)

      Insurgency: Sandstorm (From $6.40 USD)

      Changes to US-East:

Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

    • Hello All,

I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully.

We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

    • Added ability to disable the new API check for player country info

      Updated GeoIP database file

      Removed usage sending stats

      Added EZRCON ad banner

If you are upgrading then you may need to add these two lines to your existing installation in the file procon.cfg. To enable these options just change False to True.

      procon.private.options.UseGeoIpFileOnly False
      procon.private.options.BlockRssFeedNews False

    • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.

If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.

Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.

Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.

Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.

Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.

Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.

Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes.

Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.

Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.

Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month

As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.

All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.

If you would like to see how much it would cost for the services, I made a calculator that you can use. It can be found here https://ezrcon.com/calculator.html

    • I have pushed out a new minor release which updates the geodata pull (flags in the playerlisting). This should be way more accurate now. As always, please let me know if any problems show up.
