Really? I looked at all the code and I can't find anything that would add MB to the front of the message.

Is anyone else seeing this in-game?

Yes.

Can somebody take a screenshot on it? I'm not home on my gaming PC..

If there was a setting that allowed it to break apart my clans' squads during the scramble, then after the scramble, re-squad clan members/friends of those who happen to be on the same team after the scramble I believe that would be ideal. I like the idea of my clan mates being subject to balancing for the good of the server, and they have no issues as long as they end up in squads together...even if it wasn't the same squad members as last time but still members of the clan/friend list. (that would be my ideal balancing method)

There may be a setting that already does that, of which i am not aware.

Seen this epic plugin in action on Hexa's server. It's moved me a bunch of times (it's picking on me I swear, bloody annoying ). I've never seen the automated message prefixed with MB:.

That's what it shows in the ProCon chat! Maybe it doesn't say MB: moved... in the chat when you are playing, only in ProCon

I understand that "MB" is in the chat.log in Procon Chat tab. That's not the question. The question was what are players in the game seeing in the chat box.

It seems the most push back I've seen from MB is the unstacking feature... Probably because it's a new, novel, approach to keeping the teams fair. If we were to selectively give our active members / guests the ability to be white listed from unstacking that would resolve, what many consider, a major issue. I think most everyone understands the need to keep the teams balanced number wise: auto balancing is not the biggest issue. This 'do not unstack' list could then be populated with members / guests who are active within everyone's group. Personally, I would advertise it as a benefit for players who are on our TeamSpeak no matter who they have in their friends list or their clan tag.

Thoughts and feasibility?

How about this:

Change the existing Whitelist so that special codes can be added that modify the application of the whitelist.

Codes:

B = exclude from balancing only

U = exclude from unstacking only

S = exclude from unswitching only (wants to be able to switch teams freely)

D = exclude from Dispersal List (only applies when Dispersal List contains the clan tag of this player)

R = exclude from Dispersal By Rank

A name without any codes is the same as specifying all the codes (HexaCanon finally gets his wish). Codes are separated from the list item and from each other by spaces. The codes MUST be written AFTER the name, clan tag, or GUID.

Examples

A player Joe with clan tag XXX doesn't want to be unstacked. Other XXX clan members are fine with being unstacked.

Add this item to Whitelist:

Code:

Joe U
A player Bob with clan tag 1234 belongs to a clan where all of the players want to be able to switch teams at any time.

Add this item to Whitelist:

Code:

1234 S
A player Nancy with no clan tag doesn't want to be balanced or unstacked or Dispersed by Rank, but is willing to abide by the unswitching restrictions.

Add this item to Whitelist

Code:

Nancy B U R
A player Sara with clan tag AAA doesn't want to be Dispersed, even though the AAA tag is in Dispersal Group 1, and wants to be able to switch teams freely.

Add this item to Whitelist

Code:

Sara S D

Excellent!! Let the ideas flooooow through you. // end emperor palpatine

This would work wonderfully and, while it would require a bit more management on the admin side of things, it would enable an obscene level of control and fine tuning. Just epic.

One item to consider -- not really sure how this factors in -- the individuals on the VIP / Reserved list. If someone is on the VIP list, would they be immune to all balance operations like they are currently? For our setup having all VIP completely white listed makes the most sense. Because usually the VIPs are volunteers, admins, or have received some type of perk.

Ideas? Anyone else weigh in?

In all seriousness, it's an amazing plugin. And I've played some real nail biters with this plugin being the main architect. Top notch stuff man

Well, there are several ways to handle this. If Enable Whitelisting Of Reserved Slots List is True, I could:

A) Just add them with no codes, so they get full exclusion (even more than is true for 1.0.3)

B) Add them with B U S codes only (this is equivalent to 1.0.3)

C) Just add them with no codes UNLESS their name also exists on the Whitelist explicitly, in which case the explicit entry is preferred. This allows you to make minor modifications to the Reserved Slots list.

For example, if Reserved Slots has

Able

Baker

Charlie

And your Whitelist has

Baker U

Then "Baker U" is used in favor of "Baker", when the Reserved Slots names are added to the list.

I'll probably do C, since I have to check for duplicates anyway.

Looks perfectly normal. MB unstacking and balancing can help a lot of maps/modes be close games, but Metro is an exception. There's not much that can be done to make Metro always be close, short of kicking players or giving the losing team a nuke.

That is a test version. It's not available. The released version is 1.0.3.0.

Although I have noticed that some people are using unauthorized copies of my test versions. Without even the courtesy of telling me, let alone offering to test.

Yes. If you set Debug Level high enough, you will see the plugin checking all the current plugin versions available, so it can notify you if there is an update. Also, on your server where I am testing, you might see my test version.

Lvl 145 dispersal helps a lot, but it always tends to balance the same players over and over every new round and I'm wondering if you could make it so they don't get dispersed again for the next 90 minutes with that option.

Thanks!

I just finished writing the code that will enable this feature. When the new version is released, look for the exclusion setting Lenient Rank Dispersal. You'll want to set it to True.

otherwise everything is perfect.

Have you tried renaming the line for when someone is unstacked? I've got our setup so that it appears to the average user that they're being moved for 'balance'. Though when I search the logs I've got a special code in that line so i can see that they were unstacked. Then I also run silent mode without any type of yell enable.

Doing the above has resulted in fewer complaints about the unstacker.

Clever. Remind me never to declare psychological warfare on your clan.

Should I change the default message to "*** MOVED because you are sooo special!"?

  • Our picks

    • Game Server Hosting:

We're happy to announce that EZRCON will branch out into the game server provider scene. This is a big step for us so please having patience if something doesn't go right in this area. Now, what makes us different compared to other providers? Well, we're going with the idea of having a scaleable server hosting and providing more control in how you set up your server. For example, in Minecraft, you have the ability to control how many CPU cores you wish your server to have access to, how much RAM you want to use, how much disk space you want to use. This type of control can't be offered in a single service package so you're able to configure a custom package the way you want it.

You can see all the available games here. Currently, we have the following games available.

      Valheim (From $1.50 USD)

      Rust (From $3.20 USD)

      Minecraft (Basic) (From $4.00 USD)

Call of Duty 4X (From $7.00 USD)

      OpenTTD (From $4.00 USD)

      Squad (From $9.00 USD)

      Insurgency: Sandstorm (From $6.40 USD)

      Changes to US-East:

Starting in January 2022, we will be moving to a different provider that has better support, better infrastructure, and better connectivity. We've noticed that the connection/routes to this location are not ideal and it's been hard getting support to correct this. Our contract for our two servers ends in March/April respectively. If you currently have servers in this location you will be migrated over to the new provider. We'll have more details when the time comes closer to January. The new location for this change will be based out of Atlanta, GA. If you have any questions/concerns please open a ticket and we'll do our best to answer them.

    • Hello All,

I wanted to give an update to how EZRCON is doing. As of today we have 56 active customers using the services offered. I'm glad its doing so well and it hasn't been 1 year yet. To those that have services with EZRCON, I hope the service is doing well and if not please let us know so that we can improve it where possible. We've done quite a few changes behind the scenes to improve the performance hopefully.

We'll be launching a new location for hosting procon layers in either Los Angeles, USA or Chicago, IL. Still being decided on where the placement should be but these two locations are not set in stone yet. We would like to get feedback on where we should have a new location for hosting the Procon Layers, which you can do by replying to this topic. A poll will be created where people can vote on which location they would like to see.

We're also looking for some suggestions on what else you would like to see for hosting provider options. So please let us know your thoughts on this matter.

    • Added ability to disable the new API check for player country info

      Updated GeoIP database file

      Removed usage sending stats

      Added EZRCON ad banner

If you are upgrading then you may need to add these two lines to your existing installation in the file procon.cfg. To enable these options just change False to True.

      procon.private.options.UseGeoIpFileOnly False
      procon.private.options.BlockRssFeedNews False

    • I wanted I let you know that I am starting to build out the foundation for the hosting services that I talked about here. The pricing model I was originally going for wasn't going to be suitable for how I want to build it. So instead I decided to offer each service as it's own product instead of a package deal. In the future, hopefully, I will be able to do this and offer discounts to those that choose it.

Here is how the pricing is laid out for each service as well as information about each. This is as of 7/12/2020.

Single MySQL database (up to 30 GB) is $10 USD per month.

If you go over the 30 GB usage for the database then each additional gigabyte is charged at $0.10 USD each billing cycle. If you're under 30GB you don't need to worry about this.

Databases are replicated across 3 zones (regions) for redundancy. One (1) on the east coast of the USA, One (1) in Frankfurt, and One (1) in Singapore. Depending on the demand, this would grow to more regions.

Databases will also be backed up daily and retained for 7 days.

Procon Layer will be $2 USD per month.

Each layer will only allow one (1) game server connection. The reason behind this is for performance.

Each layer will also come with all available plugins installed by default. This is to help facilitate faster deployments and get you up and running quickly.

Each layer will automatically restart if Procon crashes.

Each layer will also automatically restart daily at midnight to make sure it stays in tip-top shape.

Custom plugins can be installed by submitting a support ticket.

Battlefield Admin Control Panel (BFACP) will be $5 USD per month

As I am still working on building version 3 of the software, I will be installing the last version I did. Once I complete version 3 it will automatically be upgraded for you.

All these services will be managed by me so you don't have to worry about the technical side of things to get up and going.

If you would like to see how much it would cost for the services, I made a calculator that you can use. It can be found here https://ezrcon.com/calculator.html

    • I have pushed out a new minor release which updates the geodata pull (flags in the playerlisting). This should be way more accurate now. As always, please let me know if any problems show up.
