Vote Ban

Im confused as to how this @voteban works.

Above, I commented on how I thought it worked, but I wasn't informed that I had it wrong again, which is what it appears now.

Please confirm if my current understanding is correct:

1) Start Vote Ban Number: this is how many people need to type @voteban PlayerName before the vote even starts, but the first player only must include a reason by typing @voteban PlayerName REASON

If this is set to 3 with 10 people on the server together with a pass percentage of 30%, when three people type @voteban PlayerName to start the vote (with the first one typing @voteban PlayerName Reason), will it automatically pass or will the same three players also need to type @yes thereafter to comply with the pass percentage number? Put differently, do the first three @voteban PlayerName votes count also towards the number @yes votes required thereafter?

2) Vote Ban Pass Percentage: This is X percent of total players in the server who also need to vote @yes for a vote to succeed.

Example: In a server full with 64 players, if this is set to 40%, then 25 players (or 26 if 25.6 is rounded up) need to vote @yes to ban someone.

If that's the case for 2) above, then how does @no come into play and what effect do @no votes even have on a vote? Does one @no vote cancel out a vote of @yes to ban?

My apparent misunderstandings:

I thought number 1) meant you needed that many people to all type @voteban PlayerName Reason before the vote even started, but apparently only the first one needs to include a reason.

I also thought number 2) meant you needed X percent of players who were voting to vote @yes versus @no, and it was not dependent on how many people total are in the server, but rather only on how many people vote. I thought this was the case because otherwise I can't see how @no votes even matter. But after never having one voteban succeed, and just witnessing one where it asked for 37 players to vote @yes, I realized this isn't how this even works. I had it set to 70%, thinking if 10 total people voted @yes and @no, as long as 7 of them or 70% voted @yes with 3 voting @no, it would pass.

Your understanding of this one is spot on! And yes, the 3 players that put in the "@voteban" requests will still need to send a "@yes" for their vote to count.

Correct again. Voting no really has no effect. It's just there for people to vote it if they please just for visuals. It has no effect on the outcome of the votes whatsoever. All that matters are how many yes votes are given. If a server is full with 64 players and the pass percentage is @ 40% then once the 26th yes vote is sent, the vote passes.

I LOVE this plugin. I finally got around to configuring it yesterday. I was using xpkillers procon voteban/votekick but it only accepted @vote yes and despite running messages, players voted wrong daily with !yes @yes blablabla. With Timsad's plugin, you can configure it to accept any variation of yes votes. So @vote yes !yes !yes !voteyes !yesvote is all accepted

The only complaint now from some players, is that they are now getting kicked within seconds. :P For that reason, I had to up the percentage of yes votes. FUNNY!

Thanks Tim!

Only those who have admin accounts on the Procon instance running the plugin. It checks if the user account is able to log in then gives them immunity and also allows them to use !cancelvote. Reserved Slots lists aren't used.

We've just installed this plug-in on to our servers (Procon = 1.3.0.0, plug-in = V 1.5.0), but unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be working at all !!!!!

It is not responding to !votekick [name] [reason], @votekick [name] [reason], !voteban [name] [reason], or @voteban [name] [reason] in any way at all. Additionally, since enabling the plug-in, it is not generating any server messages at all either.

It seems to start up OK when Procon has been restarted, ( [18:54:54] OK CAdaptiveServerSize CInGameAdmin CSpambot CTrueBalancerBF3 CVoteBanBF3 ).......But then, nothing after that.

I have enabled the hack cry responder, the voteban, and votekick options, and set up the various thresholds and settings as per the authors advised presets.

Our Procon runs with Sandbox mode enabled to allow TrueBalancer to function properly.

I FTP'd the .cs file up onto the Procon server, and restarted Procon. I've tried several restarts of our Procon server, and tried disabling, then enabling the plug-in itself several times also, but still it does not appear to work.

YES!!! I have asked for people to test it in game, and nothing!!

Any hints, tips, or advise please guys? As this plug-in isn't functioning at all!!

Regards,

Wolfy.

I've got the same problem here. I've got these problems since I've moved over to G-Portal. Before I had my server at NGZ and no problems. And now it won't work anymore. :/

Can you tell me if it will even respond to the "Hack Cry Responder"? Type "hack" in chat 3 times (or however many times you have the repsonder set to) and tell me if it sends a server message.

Yep, it's responding to this. But votekick and voteban aren't working.

For some reason- this just started happening. When you first join the server theres a message in chat that says: Voteban is disabled.. minimum 0 players something something.. 2% something something. Any idea what this message is about? I have voteban disabled.

I also changed server IPs lately and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with these weird messages showing up now.

Thanks

Just "!voteban" brings up instructions in the chat on how to voteban.

If I do the same thing with just "!votekick," it randomly selects a player to votekick. It should come up with a message on how to use !votekick

Latest Procon and version 1.5 of this plugin.

You are correct. It's something that I overlooked in the last update.

I'm having an issue where a !voteban has been initiated on a player but failed to meet the requirements (# of votes). The vote seems to stick though so when the player returns to the server the vote is still active and the plugin starts requesting votes again.

eg Full 20 slot server, !voteban initiated by 2 players typing the !voteban command, server is full and thus needs 5 !yes votes (25%), it only gets 2 votes thus the vote fails. However, when the player who had the vote initiated against them returns to the server, the plugin picks up on this and requests 3 further votes.

For me, I would like it so if the vote fails it is wiped and thus a whole new vote would be needed. I can't see anything in the settings about this. If you need logs just let me know which. I must note that this is on MOH:Warfighter so know that the plugin does not officially support the game.

many thanks

using this plugin for months now and I just noticed a bug.

We only use Votekick, so we disabled voteban in the settings.

Look what happens if somebody types !voteban playername:

Code:

2013-06-17 14:00:49 AKWaterman Global !voteban potato-gate highping
2013-06-17 14:00:52 Server Global Vote Ban is currently disabled! There must be at least !votekick players for Vote Ban to be enabled.
After that he tried a votekick...

Code:

2013-06-17 14:01:07 AKWaterman Global !votekick potato-gae highping
2013-06-17 14:01:09 Server Global Vote Ban is currently disabled! There must be at least potato-gate players for Vote Ban to be enabled.
2013-06-17 14:01:10 AKWaterman Global !yes
2013-06-17 14:01:12 Server Global Vote Kick is currently disabled! There must be at least !yes players for Vote Kick to be enabled.
Server was full. The tresshold for votekick to be active is 8 players.

So, this does not really make sense, right?

EDIT: Hmmmz... seems to be working okay now... LOL

I honestly have no idea what that's about. It's definitely not my plugin throwing that error.
